I understand Canada just dissolved its government, and has an election scheduled this fall as well.
I know that the PM up there is a Bush-clone (or maybe "Palin with a penis"), and would assume that he wouldn't be calling an election unless he had hopes that his party would be able to win a majority, rather than preside in the minority government they have there now, but really don't know much else about it.
Can anyone from Canada (or with a better understanding than I have) enlighten me about the probable outcome? I know there are already some Democrats worrying about our election, and threatening to move to Canada should McCain win...if, God forbid, that were to happen, what are the chances that they'd merely be moving into a political situation every bit as bad as the one they were leaving?

As a Canadian I don't follow our politics near as much as the more exciting politics south of the border ;) but I do think the Conservatives will get in with a majority, since there is a 3-way race on the left. And, our 'right' isn't nearly as far right as your republicans - we will still have universal health care, as there would be riots in the streets if Harper tried to get rid of that. And the vast majority of the public is still on the left of the spectrum. While I think it won't be a good situation for Canadians if Harper gets a majority, it is still loads better than a McCain administration.
