Campaign of fear in battle ground states. |
|
Anyone besides me receive "Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West" in their morning paper?
Bundled in home-delivered editions of The News & Observer today is a paid insert featuring a controversial DVD on Islam that has stirred anger nationwide.
-snip-
The documentary, "Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West," features scenes of Muslim children being encouraged to become suicide bombers, interspersed with those of Nazi rallies. The two-year-old film was produced by Raphael Shore, a Canadian who lives in Israel, and was directed by Wayne Kopping of South Africa.
-snip-
Ross said the DVD was timed to coincide with the seventh anniversary of the terrorist strikes of Sept. 11, 2001. He said it is "purely coincidental" that this September also is the holy month of Ramadan.

The DVD has already been inserted into copies of The New York Times distributed in midwestern states. This weekend and next, it is slated to be distributed in many newspapers in Ohio, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania and Colorado, in addition to North Carolina.

3. I view it as a dangerous film. The press has done a bad job |

in a nation drowning in propaganda. It will fuel the low information fear induced voters to vote McCain and carry on the neoconservative objective for this country. I've been contemplating canceling my subscription with a note to the editor. At some point we have to stand up and say enough.

...and more desperation. You are right...the fear card is being played up big as well as racism in the battlegrounds. And if you notice, with the exception of Michigan, these were all "red" states in 2004. This is a reaction to how badly things are going in these states...especially among their "bases" and racheting up the fear to make sure those people vote. The fundies are the biggest target as their the only real solid bloc the GOOP has left in its tattered tent as moderates have moved either to Obama or won't be voting at all and the "fiscal" conservatives are going to Bob Barr and Ralph Nader.
Note how we're hearing the Iraq=9/11 bullshit again...and how the evil Muslim (Obama included) replaced the scary Russian as the GOOP boogieman. Sadly, there are many who still drink this kool-aid out of a need to legitimize their racism.
Cheers...
