1. IMO they were sucked out |

There's debris hanging out of the windows so it looks like everything went out rather than in. The reporters don't seem to be getting it. They're talking about debris hitting the windows , but then they say that doesn't seem right because it all happened on one side. Maybe a sign of the poor state of science ed. in Texas, but the only thing that makes sense is that the way the wind happened to be funneling downtown, very low pressure was created on that one side of the building that just sucked all those windows out, probably more or less at once. It's a mercy that no one was downtown.
The reporters are also talking about flying metal street signs in Houston and surrounds, and that the back end of the storm still hasn't reached most of Houston. No one seems to be able to report from Galveston Island anymore. That's worrisome.
One amusing result of Southern sense of propriety, was when the Mayor said it is very important for everyone to conserve water to maintain enough water pressure so that some service will be available to everyone since one pumping station is down. He said people should use bottled water if available and mumbled something about skipping disposable uses of water. The reporters keep repeating only the bottled water part. No one wants to say anything about sponge baths from a small basin rather than showers. In fact they won't even mention showers or skipping showers even though that would obviously have a much greater impact on water pressure than drinking water. I guess that would just be too rude. NY reporters wouldn't have such qualms.

4. Think they'll raise the interest on their credit cards up to 45% to pay for the damages? |
|
Sure as Hell isn't coming out of the account that pays some fat bastard an 8 digit salary to sit on his ass and commit usury, we all know better than that.
