Jim Cantore just mentioned rumors of "missing" people in Galveston |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 01:41 PM by XOKCowboy
in areas that are still flooded. I think he said hundreds but I'm not sure. He was showing some of the damage to the seawall and beachfront in Galveston and closed his report with "there are rumors of.." .
Uh-Oh! I'm hoping for the best.

1. The lady after him (Heather Tesch) hinted at that as well |

5. Thanks. I just turned on the Houston coverage on DirecTv. |
|
Skeletor is giving a briefing. Ordering NG troops to the region.
They have an 800 number "To find family members" - 800 588-9822

9. Cantore is my favorite storm chaser on the Weather Channel |
|
He's very animated but also very passionate and is in his element at "weather events". He always seems to get to places no other reporter can get to or is willing to go to.

10. The reason I like him is because he is |
|
actually informed and knowledgeable about the subject. He just said dozens of people are missing.

2. My former co-worker is down there |
|
She's from Galveston, and her parents are still there. She flew down earlier this week because her father was ill. Hopefully they managed to evacuate safely. She's a smart person, and not inclined to stay during an evacuation order.
My best friend from college is in Houston, but far enough away from water that she hopefully won't get flooded.

6. The WC reporters have been out interviewing people who stayed |
|
in Galveston. Most have regretted their decision to stay. If Ike had struck just a few miles west it would have been much worse.
I hope that your friends are OK and will soon be telling you their "you wouldn't believe..." stories.

7. Hoping for the best too, but I bet his calling them rumors was to be not so blunt. |

11. They did after Rita, too. |

Makes life much simpler for all concerned. Since there's only a couple of ways in, it's real easy restrict access.
It keeps down sightseers and looters, and lets them concentrate on what they need to concentrate on.
(Meanwhile, rather large chunks of surrounding areas are under curfew. Same reasons.)
