What Were Prices At The Pump When Oil
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 02:07 PM by Dinger
prices were going up, and it was at the same price it is now? It seems like, though prices of oil are going down now, that the price of gas isn't the same. In other words, when oil went UP to $100 a barrel, what was the cost of gas? Now that it is(was) going down, when it hits $100, will gas be the same? I don't know if this makes sense, but I was just wondering. What IS the price of oil now? What is the average price of gas now?

Hmmmm, wonder why? Still, I wish I could find out what the price of gas was when oil went UP to$100 a barrel. I'm assuming it was less than it is now, but I don't know the answer.

3. Actually, the price of gasoline never caught up with the record oil

prices. When gas was at its highest price, that price only reflected $80/barrel of oil. But, since demand destruction kicked in at those prices, the gas price began to come down for a couple of weeks and then has been relatively steady for the past couple of weeks. If the price of gas had caught up with the record oil prices, gas would have reached $7/gallon. In the meantime, oil was overpriced due to speculation and peak oil paranoia. Demand destruction brought gas prices down and squelched the supply/demand fears.

Oil: $101.18
Gasoline: $2.76960
