My "I made it to 1000" post.....

While I was recovering from my heart attack, ironically 6 months ago today, at first I could not concentrate on my studies for my graduate school program. I could, however, follow the forum threads on DU, and so it became a touchstone in my days. I found following Barack fascinating and inspiring and reading folk’s opinions here interesting, informative, sometimes inflammatory, but never dull. I have a huge collection of Barack pictures, so I will celebrate reaching 1000 by sharing a few of my favorites.

I was two months from being finished...

I am back on track....now will finish in December...

I completing my internship, and writing my Psychotherapy Competency Examination.

The University is going to let me walk in the graduation ceremony with my class in October.

I guess it's one of the risks when going back to school at a ripe ol' age.

Thank you for the beautiful photos.

I survived a major MI when I was 46- coronary aneurysm. At almost 60 now I am stronger and in better shape. I'm at my high school weight.

30. oh, so good to hear....

I love to hear recovery stories...
I'm getting there, but don't feel back to where I was before the attack.
I walk two miles most days, eat very healthy
but the energy level still isn't where I'd like it to be

You'll get there.
Do you have any damage? I lost 10-15% of my heart, but my Dr. told me that my 85% is functioning better than many people's 100%.

Just keep plugging away. I consider my MI a gift. I appreciate every day that I see a sunrise, smell a flower, touch my husband's hand or joke with my children. It also let me know, that no matter how much you think you have control, you don't.
