Gov. Sarah Palin lives by the maxim that all politics is local, not to mention personal.

So when there was a vacancy at the top of the State Division of Agriculture, she appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to the $95,000-a-year directorship. A former real estate agent, Ms. Havemeister cited her childhood love of cows as a qualification for running the roughly $2 million agency.

Ms. Havemeister was one of at least five schoolmates Ms. Palin hired, often at salaries far exceeding their private sector wages.

2. K&R - but I can't say I'm shocked...
Nothing about this woman shocks me at this point.

You thought Shrub's presidency was full of nepotism and favoritism? McCain/Palin will be even worse!

3. By the time McCain's campaign is over, the only thing left for him to do...
will be to shout, "The Aristocrats!"

Unfuckingbelievable.

6. Thanks for posting this, Postman. The NY Times reporters
have done a good job bringing to light the workings of Palin. She is certainly a foxy individual. Very scary.

7. can anyone find the site for blogger Sherry Whitstine who is referenced in the article...?
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 09:14 PM by QuestionAll
And four months ago, a Wasilla blogger, Sherry Whitstine, who chronicles the governor’s career with an astringent eye, answered her phone to hear an assistant to the governor on the line, she said.

“You should be ashamed!” Ivy Frye, the assistant, told her. “Stop blogging. Stop blogging right now!”

she is a conservative blogger, apparently...in another article, she was also quoted in a boston herald article from when palin was first picked by mccain:

Sherry Whitstine, a local conservative blogger, was dumbfounded by Palin’s selection, and not in a good way. Palin is "small potatoes," said Whitstine, who is still struggling to come to grips with McCain’s decision

"(Trying to make Palin) the VP of our country is probably the worst mistake of his entire life," Whitstine said.

i found this website for her and her husband's 'friends of cottonwood lake', with a pic-

but it's not a blog, nor does it link to one...
