I'm impressed, they ARE doing something, about voter registration
and not hiding head in sand.

Email I got from the campaign... and GOOD FOR THEM

Nadin --

You'd be surprised how many people you know aren't registered to vote.

Registration deadlines are coming up soon, and we need every single vote we can get to win this election.

Tell your friends, family, and neighbors to check out our new one-stop voter registration website.

Just forward this message.

VoteforChange.com makes it easier than ever to register. Instead of tracking down the right forms, all you need to do is answer a few basic questions and you'll be ready to vote. You can also:

Confirm your existing registration
Apply to vote absentee
Find your polling place
If you don't know your own registration status or you'd like to learn more, take a minute to visit the site right now.

This race is too close and too important to stay home on Election Day.

If you take the time to register and vote -- and make sure everyone you know is registered as well -- we'll be able to turn the tide of the past eight years.

It's people just like you who will transform this nation.

Thanks,

Barack

6. Well, to say that I was a little shocked that they are doing this
is to put it mildy, and breaks the pattern from 2000 and 2004

11. I'm changing my sig line for this.
I had votepoke.org, but the Obama campaign did this a lot better. Even did it in large print so the elderly can do it.

We need to put this on public kiosks! We need to "accidentally" leave it up on public library computers! And get the word out!

Kick this to death!

12. This is a good step in the right direction. Now let's get some national media attention on the voter
suppression efforts the Repukes are using right now. More are revealed every day and in different states.

We need some serious attention drawn to the Spoonamore revelations. And real soon.

14. Durham county, nc now has 160,000 registered voters
We had an election last October, and there were 121,000 registered voters at that time. We've had 39,000 registrants in a little less than a year. The Obama campaign has been huge in this effort, because they have operated with the understanding that they can do what they want to get done better by helping and empowering grassroots activists. This increase has mainly happened among Democrats, and it took one contested primary and a lot of work by the party at the county and city level and the efforts of grassroots activists and volunteers to bring it about.

What gives me great comfort is the idea that this is happening in other heavily Democratic towns.

15. I fail to see how this is "doing something" about the huge voter purge that is going on
if this is their response to the illegal voter purging that is going on right now, I say it's rather lame. Give everyone a website where they can register to vote???? This does nothing at all for the people who are being purged right now. If you've been reading any of the articls on this, it's happening on many levels and in many states. This will not help. They need to say something directly about the illegal voter suppression tactics that are going on. They have to acknowledge it, and demand an investigation. There is plenty of evidence. Answering an email by telling the person to go to a website to register is not going to help this.
