How much Alaskan oil is actually consumed in the US? |
|
Alaska doesn't produce 20 percent of US energy, and I thought that most, if not all of it, was sold on the open markets. I wish someone would call Palin out on this lie.

1. All oil is sold on the open market, there is no market by individual nation |
|
You produce it and put it in the market doesn't matter what country it goes to.

3. Actually some oil is purchased by nationalized oil companies |
|
such as the Chinese company that just concluded a deal with the government of Eye-rack to purchase a shitload of iraqi oil.

4. Nationalized, private. You sell it to whoever is buying. |

2. Oil, not energy... and it's 14 percent. |
|
It's only 20 percent if one averages over a very long period of time, Alaskan oil fields have been in decline for a number of years.
And I seem to remember that of that 14 percent, less than 25% actually is refined in the US or about 4% of US refined oil products originate in Alaska.

THAT 20% figure is bogus. Most of the oil from AK North SLope is shipped to japan. tib

6. Alaska produces 20% of the oil produced in the U.S. |
|
Operative word is produced.
Doesn't say a thing about consumption.
