So seven of the top sixteen books on the NYT Non Fiction Best Seller List
are by conservatives....

2. The Obama Nation by Jerome R. Corsi.

5. THE CASE AGAINST BARACK OBAMA, by David Freddoso.

6. THE LIMITS OF POWER, by Andrew Bacevich.

7. FLEECED, by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann

9. FAITH OF MY FATHERS, by John McCain with Mark Salter.

10.THE REVOLUTION, by Ron Paul.

13.SARAH, by Kaylene Johnson.

All of them are marked a ... "dagger (†) indicates that some bookstores report receiving bulk orders."

I know, I know there are many here with a soft spot for Ron PAul, but he is still a right wing guy. Just because he opposed the war doesn't mean he is embracing the liberal agenda.

So this tells me that money is being funneled to these "writers" by corporations and foundations that purchase these books in bulk. I suppose that the "publisher", like Ms. Johnson's Epicenter or Mr. Fredosso's Regnery, could be putting these books out in order to spread the right wing agenda because the main stream media is sooooooo tilted toward the left, but that would be laughable.

No, I think there are people who put this stiff out, buy a whole mess of books that no one ever reads just to give credence to the right wing press, to say these books are legitimate, they must be legitimate. Why else would so many people be spending their hard earned money on these tomes.

1. Translation Republican billionaires are buying these books by the pallet
so that they can artificially put them at the top of the list.

7. Yes, and then they give them out as gifts, or sell them for a few bucks a pop at
meetings and conferences sponsored by outfits like the American Enterprise Institute and Heritage Foundation, and they're distributed to hate radio to give away on the air. BTW - one thing I noticed very early - back when limbaugh had his brief foray on talk-show television - his set was packed with his books. They were stacked across the set edge to edge in rows high enough to make - literally - a WALL of books behind him, and the spines were visible - with the book titles clearly in view and in repeat. THAT was a bulk buy, then and there. They loaded up his set with his books. AMAZING how blatant. Hid 'em in plain sight. But THAT, TOO, was a bulk buy.

I'll say one thing for these people - they sure are creative. They spend a LOT of time scheming and strategizing. And look where they are.

3. I don't know if Bacevich can be described as conservative or not, but...
...he's been a critic of the Bush regime and the Iraq War, in which his own son was killed.

13. I bought "The Audacity of Hope" tonight. A friend at work who was a
Hillary supporter read it and has it has completely turned him around. He's totally jazzed and now loves Obama. The repugs buy their books in bulk. We should too. I really don't like the philosophy of fighting fire with fire but we must do so.

6. Books that don't sell can be returned to the publishers.
So they can buy up as many as they want. I don't know if those are the 'sales' that they go by; just a thought.

12. They probably get remaindered...
There's at least one catalog that I'm aware of where remaindered books are sold, on the cheap.

8. Yep, the NYT really shouldn't even include those on the list. I wonder how many people know
what the dagger means? I just learned about this practice a few weeks ago, when a certain book came out, I forget which one.

15. NYTs is discrediting their own list by including these buys.
It's so ridiculous anyway to think the anti-intellectual right wing is actually READING any of that tripe in numbers.

21. Go to "DOLLAR TREE" or any other dollar store in 6 months and all those books will be dumped there.
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 02:48 AM by slampoet
All the copies will have little proof of purchase tags taken out of them but they will be there right next to the copies of (I'm not making this up) "I AM SPOCK" by Lenard Nemoy.

The truth is the GOP artificially Pimps the sales of these books with fake buys just like the Scientology folks do with L-Ron Hubbard books. Then they dump them on libraries, Building 19, Dollar Books and other cheap discount stores.
