Obama needs to make some scary ads |
|
Quite a few of the McCain ads I've seen are replete with scary music and and an ominous voiced narrator. I haven't seen anything like that out of Obama ads.
And these ads should be rooted in the economic threats that most voters are facing.

1. Yes. It's STILL the economy. |
|
Images of a family loading up a moving van, children saying good bye to their home, a foreclosure sign. Terrifying for most people. "Are you better off than you were 8 years ago?" A woman sadly saying to her husband "but I thought republican administrations we supposed to be good for the economy??"
Repeat this at gas pumps, repeat at work, repeat in the grocery stores.
"OMG, look at these prices! Everything has gone up so fast these last 8 years. *sigh* Everything but my paycheck. How are you doing? I'm starting to think Republicans really aren't good for the economy."
EVERYONE cares about what happens to their way of life, their ability to fill the gas tank, pay the mortgage or rent, keep food on the table.

While others are critical, I like that Senator Obama couples any "attack" ad with one based on issues. From my canvassing, those ads and their contrast is what get noticed by Independents and Moderates. While DU'ers would like to jump into the mud...and many of us have varying degrees on us...the campaign needs to stay on issues...things are so bad in this country right now that a hard dose of reality is what will prevail over lapel pins, hockey moms and pigs...it's what the 10% of the undecided think come Nov. 4th...and many will be checking their pocketbooks...that is a message that is a major strength for Senator Obama.
Now that the restraints have been let off of the 527s, I see them taking on the slime machine...lie by lie...and cover Senator Obama's flank. I've already gotten several alerts from MoveOn (and just dropped them another $250) so they can ramp up the ads in Swing States in the next 5 weeks...also threw some coin at IAVA. Another group that needs to step up is Planned Parenthood and NARAL...as well as Unions. A lot is at stake and many voices are needed to attack and drown out the overwhelming shitstorm I'm sure the desperate Camp Gramps will throw in the next few weeks.

12. Not only are you a racist, but you are also a dumb ass. |
|
Try fact checking before you spew your LIES. Of course we should expect nothing less than lies from a supporter of the liar John McCain . http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/did_obama_write_that_he_would_stand.html

Went to NH last week, as my state is a lock for Obama. Will be returning.
And duh, this dear is a discussion forum. If you have such obvious contempt for political discussion, get the fuck off your computer and start practicing what you're so sanctimoniously preaching about.

7. Oh yeah? Did you miss the part of volunteer training in which they explain... |
|
...that one face-to-face voter contact is something like 100 times more effective than a single ad? That there is no advertising "magic bullet?"

11. Does Obama have an ad stating that McCain wants to tax health benefits? |
|
Cuz that would piss a lot of people off! I'm in Colorado & a really good ad here would be to point out that McCain called for a renegotiation of the Colorado River Compact. That pissed many, many Coloradoans off, but it needs to be repeated several times before the election or the people will forget.
Last night there were several ads for both candidates on TV. During one commercial break there was a McCain ad followed by an Obama ad, followed by a different McCain ad. The next break, same thing. Break after than, McCain ad followed by an Obama ad. And you are right, McCain's ads are ominous. I think they use that narrator who does trailers for movies -- deep, compelling voice. Obama's narrator sounds much more friendly. His ads don't come across as strongly as McCain's.
The bright & shiny trinket called Palin has distracted the people & the media. Since we don't have a real journalists anymore, too many people won't know the truth about her when they go to the polls. I'm not very confident that Obama is going to win. I try to keep that sentiment to myself for the most part, but sometimes it slips out. Recently, I heard someone say, "Republicans don't know how to govern, but they know how to win elections." Too bad so many Americans are so easily duped. I'm not sure our country can withstand another four years of a republican in the White House.
That said, I'm glad I took advantage of the nice weather yesterday to get out & canvass my precinct, since today is cloudy & rainy!
