1. They're lying about the damage. |

At least until after the election. Gas prices will continue to drop, because raising gas prices will hurt the 'pubs, and McCain's chances.
On edit: this is regarding an article I read earlier saying there was minimal damage. I don't believe the damage was 'minimal'.

4. They may just spin it to support "drill, drill, drill" |
|
Gas stations were running out of fuel, purely from pre-Ike panic. I don't see how they'll be able to hide supply shortages due to damage for long.

If it's true about these destroyed platforms & pipelines then it will definitely make some think twice about opening up more offshore drilling in hurricane prone areas.

11. They'll change their tune |
|
Yesterday the corporate media was also pushing the idea that there had been little loss of life. That will change too, it seems.

7. ya think we'll hear much about those oil rigs floating around? |
|
at least 2 oil rigs in the Gulf got ripped off platforms.
wouldn't help the 'drill baby drill' crowd for that to get out too much.

Last I heard those two rigs were going to be stabilized. I imagine this is happy talk to avoid talking what has been damaged. But the corporate media won't be able to avoid the truth for long, if indeed ABC Houston is right.

12. My understanding is the key things is that the refineries were not damaged |
|
I think the refinery is distinct from oil platforms (drilling?) or pipelines.
