Saw the preview for "W" directed by Oliver Stone today
Don't know what to think.

Here's the trailer posted on youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg7vwicPx98

I really wanted to yell "Fu*k Bush" when the preview ended--but the theatre was full of women
for the matinee of The Women--so I behaved myself.

Does anybody have the scoop on whether this is going to be comedy? Or is Stone going to
try to explain why Bush is such a pathological liar and sociopath?

Anybody know?

1. You'd think that Stone would investigate which particular
psychosis was dominant. Narcissism is a definite, but there's more.

8. Movies can end up being quite different after they've wrapped and been edited.

7. A strong clue in the music he chose for the trailer
I wondered why it left me with such an ironic feeling. A short search turned up the reason - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1tl0RNuvQo Watch the whole clip. I'm guessing the film won't be a love letter to Bush.

9. I wonder if you could elaborate a little more
to say you don't know what to think is vague. You said you wanted to yell an expletive, so was that just because it was about Bush and in general you feel that way about him or because of the way he was depicted in the movie? Did Stone manage to make Bush more human, or somewhat a sympathetic figure? Did it convince you of anything in any way? Did HW Bush seem real, and how about Babs. Was there anything we didn't already know about them? Sometimes stuff that goes on in families is kept very private.

I'm really interested in whether it's even worth looking at.

10. The question the movie poses is, how did Bush get from being
an alcoholic, womanizing, failure at everything to the White House?

How, indeed? We at DU know it was by stealing an election. We know the media was complicit.

We know Bush never achieved anything on his own his entire life. So I wonder whether Stone
is going to tell the story that has been spoken on blogs, in whispers, underground, so to speak
since 2000, but never acknowledged by msm or Dem leaders.

13. With Stone writing and directing, who knows?
I always remember what Pauline Kael said upon retiring as a critic: "The best part is, I will never have to sit through an Oliver Stone movie again!"
