What does the bible do with the Iraq War? |
|
That's what my mom said.
She wants me to read the bible more and prays to God that he, and he alone can stop this war.
Bullsh*t. Faith in God alone WON'T end this war. The people and actions does. The reason why I don't read the bible anyone is because assholes like Bush and McCain and Palin use the bible to justify this stupid war and Palin said the the US invading Iraq is "an act of God".
It's not about God, it's about the people who perverse the bible to justify the killing and slaughter of thousands of innocent Iraqis. Bush, McCain and Palin are not Christians, they are religious fanatics! No better than Osama bin Laden. That's why I don't read the bible anymore, to protest to God-foresaken war.
And oh, my mom watches a lot of GLENN BECK.

8. Since organized patriarchal religions introduced patriarchy with violence ... |

Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 07:23 PM by defendandprotect
and introduced their "god"/religions with violence --
and still teach hatred and intolerance for women, homosexuals --
among their many myths of INFERIORITY of others --
AND exploitation of nature, animal life ... "Manifest Destiny" BS --
AND remembering Papal Bulls advocated enslavement or killing of native Americans
and also Africans enslaved in America . . . .
WHY wouldn't we respond appropriately to all of this patriarchal garbage ... ???

In case you haven't noticed, lots of decent Americans are Christian, including Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Many of us have gotten pretty good at supporting Christians in elections while simultaneously thinking they'd be better off dropping the religion.
What else can a non-religious progressive voter do in the US?

14. Not according to my standards, no |

Actual Christians would not use their faith as a device to gain worldly power for themselves. So to put it bluntly to you, no, there are no Christians running as far as I can see. They all proclaim themselves to be, but that is not the same as being. I offer that you have an great task in front of you. Your faith is being attacked by Palin and McCain, dragged through the mud and abused. If you do not wish others to confuse your faith with Palin's, I say that is up to you. Make the difference clear, easy to see, and loudly spoken. No one owes you the benefit of the doubt. You owe them the truth of your witness. In short, the burden lies with you and your fellow proclaimers to defend your faith, not with those who do not share that faith. If you are not the same as Palin, prove it with actions.

And "Christians" should also question why they and their children are
taught to put Christianity on display ... ??
On the other hand, if it's brought into the public arena, it is open
then to all challenge and questioning.

|
give that some thought --
And, let me ask if are you voting for "Christians" or to uphold
democratic ideals?
The same thinking prevails re McCain + Palin --
We need to keep them identified as GOP with GOP agenda --

I'd hesitate to look to the Bible for a condemnation of the slaughter of innocents. The God of the Bible encouraged that kind of thing repeatedly. I sure wouldn't have wanted to be a first-born Egyptian child back in the day.
We've got to end this war ourselves. Nobody's going to come down from the sky to do our job for us.

that states civilization began in iraq-garden of eden and will end in iraq-this stupid war on terror. this is untrue propaganda. i believe God has given us free will. we have decided to destroy our environment, treat our bros and sis's around the globe brutally. if you really read the bible you will see that judaism/islam/christianity all worship the same God. we may do it differently but He is the same.

18. Jesus Good- Fundies BAD |
|
As Gandhi said 'I like your Christ but I don't like your Christians'
I don't understand what part of 'thou shall not kill' or 'Blessed are the Peacemakers' these people don't understand. God would never approve of attacking an innocent nation and killing millions of people. I think these people must have eaten a lot of mad cow to believe that.
The teaching of Jesus are in line with many of the great spiritual philosophers and he should not be blamed for these mindless evil blood thirsty maniacs. We cannot allow them to take Christianity and distort it this way. That was the whole plan, to turn real Christians away from following a spiritual path.
I watched "Jesus Camp" last night....very very scary what they are doing to the children.
