Congressman Lampson: Someone's Head Will Roll at FEMA
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 05:57 PM by rusty_parts2001
FEMA apparently made assurances that relief supplies were prepositioned for Hurricane Ike. Not true according to Lampson. Says he was mislead. Another foul-up at FEMA is causing untold grief to millions without food, water and power in the Galveston-Houston area. Trucks just now beginning to roll toward Houston's Reliant Center

2. Just heard someone shifting blame to Austin
The story now is that a state official in Austin changed game plans on FEMA and that accounts for the delay. The official was not named. 16-18 hours before FEMA is in there.

14. But FEMA has been in Houston since earlier last week - I watched the news
reports. All of a sudden they are nowhere to be found? They are focusing on Galveston, and making sure none of us ever know how many people have died there.

3. Spin
Source: KHOU Live News Feed

Command Center for all of Southeast Texas based at Tulley Stadium is out of food and water.

Rep John Culberson (R) is on KHOU on a news conference asking Houstonians to bring food and water to the emergency response command center.

Reporters are asking "Who dropped the ball?"

11. Bushco lecturing people:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3998627

In 1989 after Hugo hit, Senator Fritz Hollings called FEMA "a sorry bunch of bureaucratic jackasses." Sound familiar.

Clinton put James Lee Witt in charge. He actually had experience in handling emergencies and FEMA worked for a while.

Exit Clinton. Enter BushII. FUBAR! If FEMA came doen here again to help, there are places where people might just shoot them.

13. Excellent point.
I know from a friend that the police are on 12-hour shifts doing "rescues". None of this is being shown by the media. I am watching coverage from a hotel in Dallas and most of what I've seen is interviews of people in River Oaks and West U. I recognize the neighborhoods. What is going on with Galveston? They are not showing it. It's disgusting.
