40 years ago today: Denny McLain wins his 30th game.

I know, I know. It's sports. But it's pretty damned transcendant, and nothing that will ever happen again in our lives.

And yes, he was a jerk, who ruined peoples' lives.

But he won 30 games. And his 30th came on my 17th birthday, and my Mom's 50th (we shared the same birthday), and with my uncle and aunt, and they are all gone now. So give me that memory. And all the best for yours, too, as we travel through life.
