Now that Ike destroyed "white" Galveston and Houston, how will Rush Limbaugh blame the victims?
Limbaugh: I want to know. I look at Iowa, I look at Illinois—I want to see the murders. I want to see the looting. I want to see all the stuff that happened in New Orleans. I see devastation in Iowa and Illinois that dwarfs what happened in New Orleans. I see people working together. I see people trying to save their property…I don’t see a bunch of people running around waving guns at helicopters, I don’t see a bunch of people running shooting cops. I don’t see a bunch of people raping people on the street. I don’t see a bunch of people doing everything they can…whining and moaning—where’s FEMA, where’s BUSH. I see the heartland of America. When I look at Iowa and when I look at Illinois, I see the backbone of America.

A Republican governor is going to show the way in the middle of a natural disaster, just like Haley Barbour did in Mississippi and just like Jeb Bush always did here in Florida. New Orleans and Louisiana, were the messes they were because of two incompetent liberals that were running the show at the same time with nothing but liberals running the show in the whole state for years before that.

"What we've seen in New Orleans is first and foremost the utter failure of generation after generation after generation of the entitlement mentality," "They had no idea what to do because they've been told somebody else was going to fix it."

*****

Guess what? A lot of folks in Galveston and Houston didn't have the money to leave either, just like in New Orleans.

8. Nobody who's ever been to Galveston perceives it as "white".
Maybe a block or two along the beach. Maybe not quite as black as NO, but it's not exactly Palm Beach either.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard that around here in the last three years.

12. The victims will probably still be blamed
But the governor will be totally off the hook for anything. It's going to be a little tougher to blame government for this, since all the officials involved are Republicans, but I have confidence that Rush and his little pals will figure out a way to blame this on the Clintons, Obama, Biden or some other Democrat.

14. Oh goodie!
Just replay all the Ray Nagin tapes, substituting the Galveston mayor's name for Nagin. I think this will all work out very well for the Republicans. Everything's always good news for the Republicans. The Today Show is interviewing a lot of haggard, sobbing white people. Maybe things will be different this time? Probably not.
