Who have you donated to in this election and why?
Let's use this thread to urge people to donate to our national candidates and to promote up-and-coming leaders that we need to hear about
----
For me
Barack Obama, for obvious reasons.
https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/standardvidbottom?source=mainnav

Al Franken
because I want to see if O'Reilly spontaneously combust when he has to say "Senator Franken"
https://secure.alfranken.com/page/contribute

I sent Hillary a little bit for her debt after her awesome convention speech
https://contribute.hillarycampaign2008.com/contribute.html?sc=2507

I gave to Anne Barth in my district, because I want to see Bush's rubber stamp representative, Capito, defeated by Robert Byrd's brilliant chief of staff

I gave to Natalie Tennant, because WV is in need of new progressive blood, for when the old guard retires.

Andrew Rice for US Senate from Oklahoma, because he's great and because the GOP's Inhoufe is the most corrupt, evil man currently holding legislative office in the u.s.

And last, but not least, Roy Carter for Congress from NC. I don't know a lot about coach Carter, but a friend of mine in his district speaks highly of him and is working to get him elected. He sent me a link to his ad and anyone who puts this out rules!:

Al Franken

and Congressional candidate Christine Jennings of Florida who didn't win in 2006 because of bad ballot design on electronic voting machines and an unwillingness of the court system to do anything about it

and the Wisconsin Democratic Party

and Minnesota's Democratic Farmer Labor Party

and the Ohio Democratic Party

and the Missouri Democratic Party.

I've also donated to other candidates/organizations.

3. I gave all I could to John Edwards. In spite of his transgressions,
since come to light, I still believe this man can contribute to the good of the country.

His intellect is higher than that of most of Washington, particularly of our present "leader". He should be forgiven for the bad mistake he made and be allowed to do his good work for the country as a whole.
If Elizabeth, whom I admire greatly, can forgive him, so should we. He has much to offer that would otherwise go untapped.

We should all be a little cautious at whom we cast stones. He has paid for his mistake as far as I'm concerned. After the election, I hope the new Democratic administration places him in a position of responsibility.

If I can, I will give again to Obama but right now, I can't.

5. Obama and Kay Hagan (NC)

Kay Hagan has a shot at winning the NC senate seat. Plus having a close race
helps Obama's chances there (and vice versa).

7. Four times to Obama, Once to Hillary Clinton, Once to DNC
My wife and I are some of the luckiest people (at least right now - who knows with the way this country is going if we will continue to be lucky) and we feel so strongly in our country and the crisis that we find ourselves in that we are have been giving back and putting our money where our mouths are.

I've maxed my Obama donations, but I'm looking around trying to find good progressive candidates in winnable races and other causes. It's probably the best use of our money at this time (aside from some charities).
