So Venezuela and Bolivia have kicked out the U.S. ambassadors to their respective countries |
|
This post from a kos diarist is interesting- and ominous. Guess who expelled the US ambassador... by 8ackgr0und N015e Sun Sep 14, 2008 at 08:54:24 PM PDT I realize a lot of people have been following the Perils of Palin as she tries to get her foot out of her mouth, or her head out of her butt, or her hand out of the cookie jar...BUT... something is happening that really deserves some adult attention. I'm not talking about the chaos descending on Pakistan. That's all the way over on the other side of the globe. I'm talking about a storm brewing much closer to home.
Venezuela and Bolivia have both thrown the US ambassadors out of their countries. Oh... and by the way... long-range Russian bombers just landed in Venezuela.
Do I have your attention now? I hope so. digg it and jump...
8ackgr0und N015e's diary :: :: I'm not going to bother translating this YouTube clip in detail. Suffice to say the guy who controls about 10% of America's imported oil called the US "shitty Yankess" and told us to "go to hell a hundred times." That is not new. What is new is he very publicly gave the US ambassador 72 hours to "get the hell out." He has already recalled his ambassador and declared Venezuela will not be sending a new one until there is a new government in the US.

2. I actually hope this story doesn't get much play... |

The natural reaction to threats like that (vote in a new government - meaning not McCain - or else) will cause the typical person to want to vote for McCain. It's not really helpful to Obama. And I suspect that Chavez doesn't really want Obama either, he gets a lot of street cred in the Americas by "standing up" to the Neocons and Bushco. What happens if they aren't in power anymore?

5. Of course Chavez would rather have Obama. |

In any case, when the little Bush leaves, he won't take the vultures with him, unfortunately. There'll be plenty of imperialists to kick around.

a new government. He clearly meant Obama. And he has plenty of adversaries, in any case, that don't want to see Venezuela democratized.

had themselves a massacre. They killed between 40 and 70 people. There is no total yet.
I guess Junior is going to burn all the furniture and break all the windows before he leaves.

The American equivalent of a training camp for suicide bombers aimed at Central and South America. The level of disrespect for the US is much broader and deeper than a few uncooperative democratic leaders. http://www.soaw.org/

9. SOA graduates are busy monsters. |
|
From Bolivia In 1997 Captain Filmann Urzagaste Rodriguez was one of those responsible for the kidnapping and torture of Waldo Albarracin, then the director of the Popular Assembly for Human Rights in Bolivia and now the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman). In 1999 the Bolivian Chamber of Deputies Commission in charge of investigating the case passed it, together with all the evidence, to the ordinary courts for investigation and prosecution. The case was also the subject of a well-known petition to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (that has not yet been acted upon). In 2002, Urzagaste Rodriguez, now a Major, took a 49-week officer training course at the WHINSEC
From Venezuela In April 2002 two SOA graduates, Army Commander in Chief Efrain Vasquez and General Ramirez Poveda, helped lead a failed coup in Venezuela. Additionally, Otto Reich, who was named to the "new" school’s Board of Visitors, met with the generals in the months preceding the coup. During the coup Reich advised business leader Pedro Carmona, who subsequently seized the presidency.
