9. I had a fly explode on me one time.

I had just started warming something and a fly flew over and landed on the microwave door. He wasn't there a few seconds when I heard a pop, turned my head , and saw the fly falling to the floor. I got a magnifying glass and examined the fly. The whole body cavity had been blown apart by the explosion. The microwave had turned the water in its body to steam, which exploded. Water has a property called specific heat which means it accepts the addition of heat readily. The body is 98% water. All forms of electromagnetic waves follow an inverse square relationship. Which means if you halve the distance from an energy source you multiply the strength of the field at that distance by a factor of four. ie. 1/3 distance means multiplying the strength by nine times. 12 inches was too close for the fly.
