HOWTO: Talk to an Evolutionist Without Being Dismissed as Ignorant and Stupid
<snip>
If you're an adherent of Creationism or Intelligent Design (ID), I am actually going to give you some legitimate advice on how to talk to an evolutionist in such a way that they don't immediately dismiss you as an idiot.
<snip>
Evolutionists are People Too
First off, you need to understand (and respect) who and what evolutionists actually are. They're ordinary people, just like everybody else.They are not intellectually deficient, they are not morally deficient, they have not had their minds "clouded by Satan".
<snip>
Evolution proponents live, and love, and experience elation, joy, frustration, and depression. They love their family and their country.

I'm glad that got cleared up. What should they feed me?
I'm just glad the basics got laid out so I can be understood.:sarcasm:
The article goes on to tell people how to explain creationism to an evolutionist.
It reads like The Onion.

1. intellectually deficient...
yes, you see, we "evolutionists" are capable of reasoned, cogent thought; rather than being pre-disposed to take fairy tales as fact.

The idea that "creationists" are somehow more intellectually proficient than others is laughable, at best.

2. I wonder how many college kids are reading that.
Say, at Olivet Nazarene where the Creationist students made such an uproar over a biology prof who happened to believe in science (I know, crazy, right?) that they got him fired.

3. You know, that's actually a pretty good piece.
If every creationist/IDer could read and understand it, it would help immensely. There are lots of people here on DU who don't understand many of the things that author clarifies.

They're ordinary people, just like everybody else.They are not intellectually deficient, they are not morally deficient, they have not had their minds "clouded by Satan".

You'd be surprised at just how many creationists need to be told that.

Too bad the author is a creationist anyway.

6. Maybe I'm the stupid one but how can you be sure from reading that piece that
the author is a creationist? I came away with just the opposite impression, a theist who also accepts science and the theory of evolution. Sounded more like a person of faith trying to "smarten-up" his creationist/ID brothers and sisters. JMHO. Oh, and I agree, I thought it was a good piece.

7. I just read it again, and you're not the stupid one.
You're right - I don't think the author is a creationist.

8. Phew, thanks. I was questioning my reading comprehension for a bit there. I do agree it's

a well written piece - sure gives one pause to think. I especially like these lines from the "So Where Are You Now?" section:

Being not ignorant and not stupid is not easy.......

The problem isn't with what you believe, the problems are with what you don't know, and won't learn. The first problem leaves you ignorant, and the second one makes you stupid.

Actually that whole section was probably my favorite part and what made me think this is not a creationist.
