He set the table for the mindset that's been in power for decades. What Reagan started, Gramm finished. Maybe now we'll see a resurgence of the concept that a well regulated economy is actually good for long term sustainability. Republicans run government like a business...that's the problem, it isn't. Government's role is to make the game honest and to penalize the cheaters. That concept was forgotten by the Big Business Republicans who saw deregulation as a way to enrich themselves and their backers. That might have worked in the short term, but the bill for malfeasance eventually becomes due. Looks like that day is upon us.
