and I've always wanted to ask, "So, how's that working for you, now?" The people less likely to benefit from those policies.

Also, I've noticed that I rarely see "Bush/Cheney" bumperstickers on the luxury-model cars, the people that those policies are more likely to have helped.

1. Good luck to the owner if he/she wants to sell it
That sticker alone should take about $500.00 off the asking price.
And on a somewhat serious note, maybe the lack of bumper stickers on luxury type cars is because, like me, they just don't want a bunch of damn stickers on the car. And my car is a loooooonnnnnnnggggg way from a luxury model.

4. Sell? Not likely
old-looking panel van probably isn't worth $500. I have considered that the owners of luxury models wouldn't want any bumperstickers on them for that reason, too. On the converse, I'd think that they'd want to advertise for their benefactors--I could be wrong.

8. That is a nice car
and the passengers are well-dressed. Obviously the Bush-Cheney policies are working for them. :silly:

3. Drove up into enemy territory -
suburban Republican North Raleigh - this morning and did not see a single McCain bumper sticker. Saw 8 Obama stickers, a couple of them on big expensive US built luxury sedans. The same area was awash in Bush/Cheny stickers 4 years ago.

6. Just before the Kerry/Bush election, a friend and I did a drive-past survey of yard signs in the
wealthy lakeshore part of town and also in the local trailer park.

In the yards of the wealthy lakeshore homeowners, Kerry signs outnumbered Bush signs three to one. In the neighborhood where the singlewides perched on cinderblocks, Bush signs predominated.

The only explanation I've ever been able to find is that poor people don't want taxes raised on the wealthy because every poor person hopes to become wealthy someday. I can't find any other explanation.

I'm sure most of the trailer-dwellers have no idea how under-taxed the wealthy are -- I wonder how many poor people know that Warren Buffet pays a lower percentage of his income in taxes than his secretary? A fact that Buffet himself publicized.

But no doubt that sound-byte was never run on Faux.

9. It is weird...
I waited tables all through college and some of the waiters were in their late thirties early forties and so many of them were Republican. They just couldn't bear the thought of those poor super rich people paying more taxes than them. It was downright weird.

5. My neighbor has that same bumper sticker on their mini van. They are retired, probably in their
late sixties. This is a middle class neighborhood. I doubt they are rich. They never seem to go anywhere, just hang around their house, no traveling. They are nice people. I wonder what they think of the past eight years.

7. You should go ask them.
Maybe they're ready for some education.

10. One of my good friends
still has a W'04 bumper sticker on her car. I never talk politics with her. She just invited me via email through the McCain website to her Debate-Watching Party. I said no. I'm sure her guests would be polite, but I'd just rather watch the debate with like-minded Obama supporters or have a party of my own.

I think people this far gone aren't reachable. Last week at her house I noticed a picture from a newspaper of McCain and Palin on her refrigerator - yuck. Didn't say anything but I have a nice photo of Barack praying that someone emailed me that I'm going to put on my fridge.

11. I fear that you're correct
that level of willful ignorance and self-induced blindness can't be fixed from the outside. Like the joke says: How many psychiatrists does it take to change to a light bulb? One, but the light bulb has to really want to change.

12. What happened to the Bush/Cheney 2004 stickers on luxury vehicles?
The owners purchased/leased newer luxury vehicles since the 2004 election. At least that's what happened in and around the neighborhoods where I live and used to work. I'm sure that's happened elsewhere.

I'm waiting to see how many of these newer vehicles will sport the McCain/Palin bumper sticker in the next few weeks.
