I know she said the word "lipstick" in her speech, and it got some laffs. I know Obama said "lipstick on a pig" in one of his speeches and it was mildly controversial. I really fail to understand how any of that makes lipstick itself, as an object, into some kind of icon. It's pretty apt though, the more I think about it - it looks as though they're offering all their lipstick so that the McCain/Palin campaign might have enough to cover over all their failures and inadequacies.

But there's not enough lipstick in the world for that.
