Why The Palin Phenomenon Is Dead
(snip)

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The Sarah Palin Phenomenon is doomed.
But it's not because of her lack of foreign policy experience or her deer-in-the-headlights look during part of her interview last week with ABC's (DIS:Walt Disney Company
News, chart, profile, more Charles Gibson.

The primary reason why the Palin bubble will burst is that the media will decide that they are bored with her. They'll need to move to shine a light on a fresh issue or individual.
This is how the world works in the age of 24/7 news cycles. Whether the subject is Britney Spears, Michael Jordan or Sarah Palin, we inevitably raise stars to mythic levels, out of all reasonable proportions. Then we knock them down. (Look out, Michael Phelps. Your time is coming, too.)

1. Sarah Palin is standing on a media created scaffold.
I suppose the media c o u l d pull it out from under her feet.

She certainly has nothing of her own to stand on.. except
obvious ignorance, continuous lies, petty vindictiveness,
and a penchant for abusing power.

3. Basically, there is no there there.
And the Republican strategy of keeping her strictly limited to campaign appearances is making her look like real dolt since all we are ever permitted to see is her little catch phrases.

6. McCain wanted that celebrity magic: He got it...
but he gets the bad with the good.

Sure if you have that celebrity vibe, you get spotlights, lots of pictures in the papers, magazines, TV, etc.

But with all that adoration comes scrutiny.

Obama got the celebrity. He also got the scrutiny. He had to muddle through weeks of the media playing "God damn America!" from Rev. Wright over and over and over. He had to go through weeks of his policies, his lifestyle, his family being picked through. And you know what? Because Obama's a basically decent fellow, he got through it.

Palin will have to go through the same scrutiny. Except she's gonna have to watch people picking through all her lies, all her politicking, all the questionable, dirty acts she's committed, all the sweetheart deals, etc. Her church will get scrutinized, so people already are seeing the speaking in tongues and the Dominionist politics.

She's not going to come through the other side in nearly as good shape as Obama did.

And neither will McCain - he'll get scrutinized too, no matter how much he tries to stop it.

7. Is anyone looking into her personal finances? A PTA Mom's finances
should be pretty uncomplicated...or are they?

8. Palin's not interesting enough for sustained media coverage.
She came out the box with her sarcasm and bile and the media liked it. But they're already bored with her. What else is there to know? Will the media waste time exploring everything else she's unqualified to do? Not with events on the ground (like the Wall St meltdown) going the way they are.

Give it a few weeks and Palin will be talked about as much as that other "election 2008 defining" issue, immigration.

9. How long did they keep the missing blond haired girl in the news?
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 02:10 PM by ThomWV
Sometimes they keep the most mindless shit on the news for months. What about what's-her-name's tit at that football game?

10. The Rethugs only need less than two months to prop her star up
Then she can fade into the woodwork until McCain drops dead.
