Maybe someone already thought of this
The reason why the pubes wanted to take Social Security and put into stock market was to be able to cover all the shit happening with the mortgage big shit pile (Bear Sterns, Lehman)?

I don't know just a dumb engineer thinking.

3. Yep.
Just like Enron, just like any Ponzi scheme, you gotta keep that cash flow up somehow or the game is up.

5. i have heard that before, and I think there is something to it
as the boomers retire, we are going to taking money out of SS and our 401K's, so it stands to reason Wall Street would want some inflow to cover.

you are sure not dumb, but you certainly can think.

7. I agree, Hobo. Now that the investment banks can no longer sell
crappy MBS to overseas investors for massive profits, and since foreign investors have been pulling their money out of U.S. equities, privatizing S.S. funds are the bankers' last hope for survival. The fees charged alone would make them some serious coin. Of course, this would be disastrous in the end for the average American. But, then, when do Republicans ever protect average Americans?
