Why would the federal government prevent foreign aid after a disaster? |
I understand in the case of Louisiana, Americans didn't care and probably wanted to prevent it. But now, if Germany or Nigeria wanted to give aid to Texas what reason would the federal government have to try to stop it?

4. They do not want to admit that we are not a first world country anymore. |
Looks bad for them, after all they been running the place for quite a while now, and talking big about themselves too.

5. I don't agree with your assessment regarding LA |
The same reasons apply now as then. Bush is afraid of appearing weak, of acknowledging that he has presided over the demise of the American economy.

6. Sorry to tell you this. Bush did not allow German help for Katrina.. |
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 04:32 PM by Stuart G
Several German planes full of supplies to help out were not allowed to bring them in. Canada sent some of its best sailors who could have helped in the floods..nope...the President didn't allow other countries to help us, especially those we helped out after WWII..
And I am absolutely positive that help was indeed turned away..

10. I know they didn't allow foreign help for Louisiana, America was fine with that |
It was Louisiana, we aren't someone they have ever cared about. Never have, never will.

7. The same reason they're limiting images and coverage |
It's all about managing the information to limit political damage. I wouldn't be surprised if the GOP tried to move elections from November because it's too close to hurricane season.
