what are the strong fundementals of our economy?
I've heard these words by both of the puke people, that the basic fundementals of our economy are strong. Does that mean that home ownership is at an all time high, or more people are employed now than ever before, or there is no need for large companies to file for Chapter 7 or 11? Can somebody help me?

1. They're probably referencing core inflation, which has no real meaning to ordinary people.
Another is probably that we still have positive GDP growth, but GDP is not necessarily a good measure of economic vitality from one quarter to the next. The best way to gauge health is a basket of measures examined in parallel.

3. It's simple, really
The fundamental purpose of the entire American financial system is to maintain the disparity between rich and poor. The average rich person still has a net worth at least 500,000 times that of the average non-rich person. Ergo, the fundamentals of the economy are still strong.

4. At best they are lying
at worst they are in denial,
or more than likely they are pretending to be hopeful for political gain.

And some of the same people are responsible for them.

13. A cynical way to look at it is this ...
... when enough people can continue to pay for cable and watch FOX lie to them about how good the economy is doing, then the economy is strong.

When people can only afford to keep their battery-operated radio working to listen to Rush lie to them about how well the economy is doing, then the economy is in a "slow-down".

Food prices, gas prices, healthcare be damned.
