I want to share part of an e-mail I received from Rep. friend of mine in Houston.

Just to put this in perspective, her hubby is a bigwig at Shell &, up until she changed jobs, she worked at Lockheed Martin for years.

Here's the e-mail excerpt:

Mayor White has done a fabulous job getting things going here - Gov. Rick Perry dropped the ball with FEMA and the Mayor was visibly pissed during a news conference! FEMA is now working directly with the city rather than working with the state!!

I'd love to see that video! Do you suppose the Rethug governor dropped the ball on purpose, hoping people would blame the Democratic mayor? My friend is a good barometer for what other Rethug supporters are feeling, so I was glad to hear that they're giving the credit for the problems to their Rethug governor.

I did find one where the governor was asked by a tv reporter why helicopters were denied access to Bolivar Island. That governor is smarmy with his (non-) answers:

My friend said that when it was the mayor's turn to answer reporters' questions, he angrily said, "Ask him," referring to Chertoff.

Before Ike hit, I asked her if she as going to be called into service as she was for Katrina. She said: "Oh no. Texas turned their noses up at any help from FEMA, saying they certainly knew how to deal with hurricanes without any help." Look where their arrogance has got them.
