Palin's Refusal to Speak to Alaska Investigators is a Gift
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 10:19 PM by bigtree

'What is she hiding?'

That's going to be the question dogging her as she rejoins McCain on the trail this week. Anything that takes McCain/Palin off-message is good for Obama, but her refusal to talk to investigators should cement her image as just another privileged, arrogant pol.

It's amazing that she'd take this position, since the investigators, themselves, said they subpoenaed everyone except her because they were counting on her voluntary cooperation. That's right. She had the benefit of the grace of investigators and she's shown them her ass. Now there's the question of whether Palin's husband will join the heralded 'reformer' in obstructing or hindering the state inquiry.

The beauty is that most of the pressure will come from the media -- who must have had enough of her dodging questions at the same time she's demonizing them.

know what will come of it.

2. She told them
before that she would cooperate! Ha! Ha! I think what they are hiding is Todd Palin's inappropriate involvement in the mess.

3. It's not all that amazing

It's a stall tactic. They'll do everything they can to avoid the investigation until after the election is over. They don't want the October Surprise to be "Palin Guilty Abuses Power, Investigators Rule".

They are also screaming from the roof-tops that the investigators are all democrats trying to "play political games". Not true, but we know that doesn't stop them from saying it... over and over and over and over again.

6. And what a delicious opening line that is for a new ad campaign.
"Sarah Palin- What is she hiding?" -- "She was for the investigation before she was against it-what's up with that?". Or some such thing. I hope someone runs with this one- I'll even donate to whichever group does it first- -MoveOn- DFA-- Obama campaign!

10. What is she hiding and why is she hiding?
Okay, we know WHY she's hiding and won't answer any press questions. Because she's as dumb as a rock. That's why McCain stands behind her and nervously diddles his ring. He knows how stupid she is.

But what IS she hiding?

12. right
If it's such a cut-and-dry defense she has, why isn't she willing to submit that to official scrutiny?

8. Small problem
The media probably won't talk about it. I hope I'm wrong but I'm noticing a pattern here. Keith and Rachel put on this stuff on a silver platter and you wake up the next morning to nothing but stupid and inane analysis rigged to make McCain look credible.

Did anyone hear about Greenspan's comments today, all day and everywhere? Just imagine if he trashed Obama what we'd be hearing.

The media is now in full swing for the RNC.

11. This story just broke this afternoon
I just heard it on Olbermann and on Maddow. I don't think this one will go away. It's just too defining an occurrence for someone like Palin who is mostly unknown (outside of her name and gender) to a majority of voters.

As cynical as people are here, I've already heard a lot about this from TV, not DU. So the media is onto it.

17. What about her e-mails and memos and her claim of executive privilege?
Has she been forced to hand them over or is she still stonewalling on that, too? It seems like she waived the privilege when they involved non-governmental issues such as personal vendettas over a divorce, and also when non-governmental individuals were allowed by her office to access them (i.e. Todd Palin).

18. Colbert King says, 'All John McCain has to do is say the word. Why won't he?'
King:

"McCain, who professes to believe in open and transparent government, can show that his deeds can match his words. All he has to do is order his running mate, her family and her staff to cooperate fully with the Alaska legislature's investigation. McCain should also tell his running mate to release to the public, without further delay, all of the e-mails regarding Monegan and Wooten.

If, as Palin insists, she has nothing to hide, these requirements can be satisfied within 24 hours."

19. Sic a 527 on Troopergate and her crappy dealings as Mayor of Wasilla
And if a Palin groupie tries the "Democrat witch hunt" line, remind them that a panel of 3 Repubs and 2 Dems voted in favor of the Troopergate subpoenas.
