1. Where's the "All of the Above" response?
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 08:59 AM by Jackpine Radical
Also, my "New Deal program would have as its primary goal the building of a new infrastructure including things like NATIONALIZED railroads and renewable energy systems. There would be a national single-payer system for health care. There would be a massive R&D project on new green energy technologies that would make the Manhattan and Apollo Projects combined look like two kids playing on the rug with Tinkertoys.

5. Aargh...
You edited the poll as I was voting and my vote changed.

I would have a hefty agenda that would include many of these (EXCEPT continuing Bush/Reaganomics) and I would go heavy after Corporate Corruption and Corporate Tax Evasion.

7. Cut defense/intelligence spending by 80%. Nothing else is possible without that.
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 08:59 AM by HamdenRice
Of course, no one would dare run on that platform. No matter. By January, our creditors will be dictating the federal budget process and fiscal policy, just the way the IMF used to do in Latin America. Hopefully, this will give the politicians cover (an excuse) to do what simple arithmetic demands.

Also I would open up almost all areas of direct foreign investment here to Chinese and other sovereign investment funds. There is now no other way to recycle our debt instruments and dollars held overseas. This is also a good thing because our new Chinese owners will throw out greedy, fat, incompetent American management and replace them with Indian MBAs.

Sadly, whoever accomplishes this at the demand of foreign bankers may well be perceived by the ignorant voting public as having sold us out and may be turned out in 2012.

No matter, the change will be irreversible and there is no other financial alternative.

11. To be fair to yourself you were asking about the "agenda"
and sadly none of them will tell the public the truth, so there is no "agenda" of doing the inevitable.

10. At this point, i think the poll
could have asked ( although I really like the poll) what would you do first.

12. All of the above,
including cutting defence spending, killing star wars and a bunch of other unworkable stuff, make the fed a public resource, and take the last administration to task for breaking laws left, right and centre. Holding these folks accountable would be the first step in cleaning up the mess.

15. Forbid all campaign "contributions. Institute a parliamentary gonvernment. Resign.
Or, if I had really long coattails of power, I'd break the United States into compatible sections and call them new (2nd rate power) countries.
