Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 10:39 AM by SoCalDem
and the govt will also pay 100% of emergency preparedness costs..:wtf:

So Texas, which is raking in TONS o' CASH due to all of us being scalped on energy/gas prices, will bear NO actual cash-outlay for clean-up of their weather-disaster..(a lot of which could have been prevented though more rigorous zoning laws), and the government (which is broke) will pay for it all??

and trash still litters New Orleans and surrounding areas..THREE YEARS LATER..:grr:

Can Lousiana sue??

1. Is this because they want to CONTROL...
...the clean up and hide how bad the disaster is?

Bush doesn't have one altruistic cell in his body.

He's doing this for some self-serving reason.

So, what is it??

3. burden
Spread the burden across the country instead of the people who live in the state that suffered the destruction and leave the state money to be used for rebuilding?

5. Probably means Texas will be waiting three years too, (or longer)
Bush telling Texas the check is in the mail doesn't mean it is, does it?

15. 2005
senate unanimously voted to provide $52 billion. More has been given since then. $70 billion was my estimate.

Here is a link that says a total of $126 billion has been provided, not necessarily all from the federal government and also references/links the environmental problems associated with the cleanup effort.

Should they ignore Texas until Louisiana is done? New Orleans should be taken care of first, right?

10. there is still trash and debris in parts of NO from the storm.
* is promising a 100% cleanup of TX. no such promise was made for LA. i think 3 years should be sufficient to cleanup.

13. problem
From what I have heard environmental concerns have been a major holdup in the cleanup effort in New Orleans.
