Maybe Hurricanes Hamper Spelling -

Oh, and I'm convinced that we should not be inhabiting barrier islands. Period.

2. I disagree.
But there should be a huge sign over the bridge to barrier islands that says "This island is basically a sandbar. It has been under 10-20 feet of storm surge many times in the last 500 years, and will be again. Settle here at your own risk.
And of course, insurers are justified in charging an arm and a leg for coverage on these islands.

5. Yeah..but all this trash is going to end up in landfills. Dunes are bulldozed, etc..
I just think its becoming unreasonable to allow development on such exposed, unstable, naturally evolving land.

Real estate developers tend to have more sway than I do.

8. You are an unfeeling bastard. These people are suffering.
Ahem.

Now that I've made the obligatory attack on anybody who makes a logical statement about a natural disaster, let me say that I agree with you wholeheartedly.

14. Then the sign also needs to say
you will not be eligible for federal disaster funds (at taxpayers expense) if you settle here.

6. Should be park land, wildlife preserves...
If these beautiful but dangerous areas were reserved for parks, the devastation would be far less horrific. And ALL the people would have nice recreational areas to enjoy when the weather is good.

7. I don't think that's a mistake...

It looks to me as if something was laying over the top of the second "O". In fact, look right behind her ankle.

On edit: I agree. Barrier islands should be planted with mangroves, dune grasses and shrubs and left the hell alone. Areas twenty and thirty miles inland depend on that protection.

10. I don't think the bottom piece was overlayed...
The "L" would have been cut off too, but the "L" is quite tall.

I think the thing at her ankle is the point on the Exclamation point.

I have no idea why I'm bringing this up.

HOWEVER - You sum up nicely my stand that humans are destroying nature's protective buffers by developing the barrier islands.

12. Yeah, if you're going to snark on someone else's spelling,
