I'm not the manic type, but all these BIG, PROMINENT financial institutions, and many banks seemed just fine, but overnight, they filed for bankruptcy! It makes even the calmest people a bit unnerved.

But maybe that's because like tens of millions of Americans, I don't own a scrap of stock and most of what happens on Wall Street has zero relevance to my life.

14. I think it's bank failures and losing deposits that has many in a panic.

However, there is really no safe place to deposit or invest (except perhaps a few things like
gold or commodities), unless one has a clear sense of where this chaos might take us.

Banks are consolidating (which if you google bank consolidation, is an actual plan to wittle
down and streamline banks for their new roles on the global stage). Doesn't make it any less
scary or painless, but it's nice to know their big picture. And there's always the possibility
that this 'plan' may fail. Centralization of banks vs. de-centralization.

I'm kind of in the same situation. But it unfortunately will affect people like us down the line, jobs get harder to come by being the main negative effect.

12. Deep "safety net"?

For people who have been paying attention, we know that the "safety net" isn't nearly as deep as people claim and it's on the verge of collapsing. The Treasury can't prop up Fannie/Freddie AND manage the FDIC AND assist debt ridden small banks. There's just no way to do it. It can't just print more money because that devalues the money further.
