1. The conclusion of the rousing Bush speech is awesome
Very rousing:

"We as a people must stand united, banding together to tear this nation in two," Bush said. "Much work lies ahead of us: The gap between the rich and the poor may be wide, be there's much more widening left to do.

"We must squander our nation's hard-won budget surplus on tax breaks for the wealthiest 15 percent. And, on the foreign front, we must find an enemy and defeat it."

"The insanity is over," Bush said. "After a long, dark night of peace and stability, the sun is finally rising again over America. We look forward to a bright new dawn not seen since the glory days of my dad."

Almost as wonderful a parody as their piece on "Pope forgives Catholic altar boys for exploiting their seductive charms"

3. Oddly enough, I almost posted that identical link in a reply to someone yesterday.
It just keeps coming back to me, over and over.

"Our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity if finally over".

I read it then and laughed. I hated Bush's policies, and but I hoped maybe they wouldn't all be put into practice. I couldn't believe people would in essence vote against Gore, who represented the previous 8 years of peace and prosperity, but that is what they did, in effect.

I don't think the Onion knew how prescient they were.
