When Bush Won in 2000, I Changed My 401K |
|
I'm 56 now, I was 48 then. I was always taught that your money was safe with Democrats and at risk with Republicans. My grandfather handed that lesson down to us from the depression he lived through.
I did preety good when Clinton was in. Increase of almost 250% over 8 years. But in Junuary, 2001, I put my retirement money into a guranteed fund at 3.5% a year.
Well, Thanks Grandpa, your advice saved me a bundle.

I rolled all of my 401(k) funds out of equities in July of 2001. It was all of a sudden I felt I needed to get out of the stock market right away, and I did. Bought low, sold high -- pure luck on my part.

3. Bush did not win in 2000. |
|
Al Gore did, but the Supreme Court stopped the vote count before this could be determined.
This is important. Let's always accurately recount history.

www.unprecedented.org
Unprecedented: The 2000 Presidential Election is the riveting story about the battle for the Presidency in Florida and the undermining of democracy in America. Filmmakers Richard Ray Pérez and Joan Sekler examine modern America's most controversial political contest: the election of George W. Bush. What emerges is a disturbing picture of an election marred by suspicious irregularities, electoral injustices, and sinister voter purges in a state governed by the winning candidate's brother. George W. Bush stole the presidency of the United States… and got away with it. " …the movie highlights those on the front lines —from the African-Americans who were turned away from the polling booths for assorted reasons. In one memorable scene the filmmakers freeze-frame a 'protest' against the ballot recount, identifying participants as staff members of Republican elected officials." --Elaine Dutka, Los Angeles Times

8. They need to make the film free. |
|
Their desire to make money is denying people the opportunity to see the film.

5. I put my 401k in a money market after Enron. |

Everyone thought I was nuts at the time, but I could sense that something was majorly wrong with the whole system.
The only thing I did that I wish I hadn't was buy a condo in 2002. I'm taking a massive hit on that now thanks to Bushnomics.

I see some people who locked into a 10 year at 7%. I tell them when they call you don't know how smart you are and how good you are getting. I applaud your intelligence.
