Leave the island or "you will be taken out in handcuffs"????
Does this have to do with the threat of martial law?

I have family that stayed at the forts on Bolivar, I spoke with him this morning and the government officials told him that as of this morning if you do not leave on your own you will be taking off the island in hand cuffs.

As much as I believe that you should be allowed to get youself to the island and do a look and leave, I don't want to see anyone taken off in hand cuffs.

The word is, they are trying to build a temporary bridge and it should be done in three weeks. Residents will then be able to go and get their things.

Hang in there. If we all band together, family and friends, they can't keep us out forever!

2. Are there any Indy media reports so we can see what is truly happening?

3. Looks like the forum in the link is the closest we get to indy
reports.

BTW, was watching maroonspoon site with the local channels, they toured UTMB with one of the hospital officials who said it will be at least a MONTH before UTMB re-opens. So the only place to get any kind of medical attention on the island will be the medical setup created with paramedics from around the country, military medical persons, and some private practice docs who will have only 2 choices for people seeking care 1) treat and release or 2) treat and ship them out to an off-island facility.

4. It sounds like Ike was a MUCH bigger problem than M$M is saying so far...
Why were the look and leave programs ended? It may be the only chance families have to salvage things that matter to them like family heirlooms and albums that had to be left behind.

90%+ of homes in some areas are gone. Not destroyed....that leaves debris. I mean gone (probably along with the bodies of the holder-outters).

6. Hence the media ban
Last thing they want the world to see is hurricane survivors being cuffed and dragged off the island. I image there are people of all ages still there (judging by video/pics we have see). How do they plan to calm the little ones as mommy and daddy are being handcuffed and taken away??

8. As long as I had food and water, they'd have to drag me off in handcuffs
Although officials like to talk big in order to scare people off, that way they don't have to actually force people out.
