but maybe this is a common thing there - people need artificial daylight so they don't get seasonal affective disorder.
I'm not necessarily sticking up for her on this - I just wonder if this is more common in Alaska than other places.

30. SAD - seasonal affective disorder. |
|
And, yes, artificial sunlight helps a lot, especially in a place that has extremes in terms of hours of light and hours of dark. However, a tanning bed would not be the treatment of choice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder

|
But yes, it is far more likely to cause cancer than sunlight.
I think KO was going a little far on his show. He should have said he doesn't believe for a second it's for SAD.
Unless you live in a fairly southern state, you're going to be short on daylight in the winter and be more than a little moody.

Seriously, though, I do think there is a touch of madness in Palin's unblinking eyes. I think she should be submitted to psychological testing before we let her go any farther in this campaign or closer to the red button.

4. I'm all for trashing her, but many Alaskans suffer from SAD (Seasonal affective disorder) |
|
due to the lack of sunlight. It does have a link to Vitamin D defecientcy.
She's a PIG, but maybe not for this one...... OK, she should have paid for it out of pocket or with medical insurance.

15. That's my impression of the treatment for SAD, too. The point is to get light into the eyes. |
|
In any case, is it wise for the Republicans to suggest that their VP suffers from depression? Remember Eagleton?
Disclaimer: I suffer from depression, too, but not Seasonal Affective Disorder. However, I did look into it, which is how I know that tanning beds were not the treatment of choice.

Sunlight absorbed through the skin helps to create vitamins and enzymes, however, light in the eyes triggers the release of certain brain chemicals.
I believe the treatment for depression requires that the light be seen.

I realize that white light is used to treat SAD but I wasn't aware that UV-ray beds were part of this therapy.
I think this explanation is more bovine fecal matter.

I lived in Seattle for over 20 years and am very aware of how to treat SAD. You use light boxes for 20-30 minutes in the morning. You can read the paper or exercise in front of it. You don't use in them in the evening because it will keep you awake at night. You do not use a tanning bed.

A vindictive, ruthless, evangelical who wants to be next in line to a septegenarian Commander in Chief with a history of cancer suffers from some sort of emotional disorder and now we find out that she self-medicates!!!
This has :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: written all over it.
I think we need to see to see those medical records now more than ever. Since McSame didn't see fit to vet this creature, the responsibility must fall to the electorate.
