The difference between Palin and Quayle . . .
. . . is that the Bush campaign never really relied on Quayle to attract support. Without the Palin hub-bub, the press might have slept through the republican convention. If she falls, McCain's decrepit, redundant presentation will not be enough to hold up the ticket.

He had to turn to her to put life in his comatose campaign, and now he's bound to her faltering appeal.

1. that and Quayle was at least qualified for the job
He may not have been the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he'd been in Congress for awhile at that point.

3. He was supposed to attract youth ...

It didn't really work, but it turned out Bush I didn't need it.

The difference, in my mind, between Palin and Quayle is that at the very least, despite his total lack of ability not to screw up speaking in public, he was qualified. He was intelligent, if misdirected. She makes him look like a freakin' genius.

4. When Obama/Biden win can't you just hear these two blaming
each other: McCain - I would have won without her Palin - If he weren't on the ticket I would have won. And then both blame the Dems for not playing fair.

8. Quayle graduated from law school and passed the bar
which is a lot more than Mooselini accomplished in her academic career.
