Wendy's, Triarc Approve Takeover Deal

NEW YORK — Shareholders of Wendy's and Triarc have approved a $2.34 billion deal to make the nation's No. 3 hamburger chain a part of billionaire investor Nelson Peltz's empire.

Shareholders voted Monday on Triarc Cos. Inc.'s purchase of Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy's International Inc. Directors of both companies had already OK'd the transaction.

Atlanta-based Triarc operates the Arby's fast food chain and is owned by Peltz. Triarc said in April it would buy Wendy's for $26.78 per share in an all-stock deal.

The deal is expected to close on Sept. 29.

The quality of Wendy's seems to have gone downhill lately, whereas Arby's isn't really all that bad.

There's a Wendy's near where I live and I have gotten food there at least 10 times in the last 12 months, and I am pretty sure that not one single time did they get the order right. Either something was missing or different from what I ordered. They have the receipt right in front of them and they still can't put in the bag what is shown on the ticket. I don't know if this is a common problem with fast food places as I never go to McD's, Carl's, Burger King, etc. though I will go to Jack in the Box for their milkshakes which are pretty good. I used to eat at Arby's when I was in college, but the last time I went to an Arby's a couple of years ago, the sandwich I got was kind of flat and sloppy, and not much like the picture shown.

19. They do have a lot of fried and deep-fried items there.

They do have salads with chicken on them, but I'm not sure how the chicken is cooked. From the picture it doesn't look like it's breaded and deep-fried, in fact it looks like a skinless chicken breast sliced up, but I've never gotten one with the chicken so I don't know for sure. But yes, they do have a lot of fried and deep-fried stuff there.

I myself had Wendy's chicken nuggets yesterday (no fries though.) My wife had a salad that did indeed have a deep fried chicken breast on top of it.

McDonalds look like health food.

I like hamburgers, even hot dogs (yes, I know how they are made), and I will not eat anything that comes from Arby's since I found out what that shit really is.

I hope they leave the Wendy's food alone.

wendy's has baked potatoes, a reasonable facsimile of chili, and the chocolate frosty.

maybe they could merge the two chains, cut out the crap from both, and save the good not quite as crappy stuff to make a new and marginally better chain...arndy's...? :shrug:
