For those of you who don’t know who Debbie Schlussel is, she’s Michigan’s resident right-wing loony. Imagine someone with even less wit and charm than Ann Coulter with a rabid and absolutely irrational dislike of anything Arab or Muslim. As far as she’s concerned, the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim. And yet despite those right-wing credentials, on her blog she is actually advocating Chinese Communist-style repression of Muslims in this country. The post is titled:

A Great Question on this 9/11 Anniversary: Why Doesn’t China Butt-Kiss Muslims Like We Do?

What she really means by this, evidently, is “Why don’t we oppress Muslims the way China does?” She begins by quoting a reader who e-mailed her:

"Why is it that China is fighting islamic fundamentalists the way we should be fighting Islamic fundamentalists especially during Ramadan?"

And she replies:

"That’s a great question. The answer is that China is far more fierce, these days, about protecting its country’s borders and national security than we are. And perhaps the Chi-Coms have a stronger will for their nation to survive than ours. …

Oh, and also, the Constitution prohibits us from establishing a national religion or preferring one . . . unless it’s Islam."
