This is the bullcrap that Fundies send to each other
It's a long story, but I have managed to get on the email list of a rapid right-wing old bitty. This is a new experience for me; I never get this BS from my "elitist" contacts. }(

Here's the text; I can't deal with trying to put in the pix, but use your imagination to envision the presidential portraits of the various commanders-in-chief who are mentioned. They shure are purdy.

BTW, the title of this mail is "One of the best emails I've seen!" Anyone feel like giving me help with a response?

*************************************

A mother asked this President... <Chimpy> 'Why did my son have to die in Iraq ?'

A mother asked this President... <Clinton> 'Why did my son have to die in Saudi Arabia ?'

A mother asked this President... <Poppy B> 'Why did my son have to die in Kuwait ?'

Another mother asked this President...<LBJ> 'Why did my son have to die in Vietnam ?'

Another mother asked this President... <Truman> 'Why did my son have to die in Korea ?'

Another mother asked this President... <FDR> 'Why did my son have to die on Iwo Jima ?'

<etc...>

Another mother asked President... 'Why did my son have to die on a battlefield in France ?'

Yet another mother asked President... 'Why did my son have to die at Gettysburg ?'

And yet another mother asked President... 'Why did my son have to die on a frozen field near Valley Forge ?'

Then long, long ago, a mother asked...

'Heavenly Father . why did my Son have to die on a cross outside of Jerusalem ?' <cheesy graphic of Virgin Mary bowing at the cross>

The answer is always the same... 'So that others may live and dwell in peace, happiness, and freedom.'

This was emailed to me with no author. I thought the magnitude and the simplicity were awesome.

If you are not willing to stand BEHIND our troops,

Please, please feel free to stand in front of them....

1. "Please, please feel free to stand in front of them...."
It's the perfect excuse - since they claim to "support" our troops, that exempts them from military service.

16. USS Cole, I'm guessing...
It of course wasn't a war (and I'm not even sure if it was off the cost of Saudi Arabia and not Qatar or Yemen, etc.), but it's the best guess I can come up with.

Does this mean that presidents of the United States are divine beings and are supposed to rule with a mandate from Heaven?

20 US airmen died...

Wonder why they didn't include THIS one...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Beirut_barracks_bombing

Perhaps because 100's died and St. Ronald Reagan was in charge and he ordered the Marines OUT of Lebanon.

.. to kill anyone who's standing in front of your peace, happiness, and freedom??
WTF!??
For all of their phony righteousness, they have no problem sanctioning war (is there anything more evil than that?) with images of their own basis of faith! Beautiful, that IS awesome!!

21. No, they think the exact opposite.
They use Jesus and Christianity as a rallying point for war (as evidenced by the email in the OP).

11. Ask about the mothers on the other side.
A mother asks Bush "Why did you send troops to kill my innocent children?"

A mother asks Jesus "Why did you send troops to kill my innocent children?"

Only one of those can answer "I didn't."

Then you could ask this series of question:

A mother asks the president "What were you trying to defend when you killed my child?"

The two Bushes and Reagan can only answer "The profits of my rich corporate sponsors." Even LBJ, misguided and wrong though he was, can answer better than that.

though, I'm sure the Fundies will just say that those children angered God by being Muslims, so he smote them with his merciful touch, and American troops have been sent out by Jesus, since Bush IS Jesus.

27. Not all. There are good people out there who have been twisted by Fundie exposure
who genuinely care about kids, and have never really considered the other side of the military equation.

And another story I like to tell. I once shut a preacher up with this--literally made his jaw drop as he couldn't find a response to it. We were debating Afghanistan, actually, and he said it was justified because they had attacked us, and I pointed out that Jesus said "turn the other cheek" and forgive seventy times seventy times. To which he answered "Come on, you don't think Jesus really wants us to die instead of fighting back, do you?"

"What did Jesus do?" I asked. "When the enemy soldiers came to kill him, did he tell Peter 'Draw your sword and start hacking?'" The answer, of course, is that when Jesus was faced by those coming to arrest him to take him to certain death for crimes he was innocent of (at least in the context of the Bible, which is what I was arguing), he forbade his disciples from fighting back, and healed the one man that Peter had injured in his defense. "So are you saying that Jesus requires less of you?"

I walked away a minute later without him having come up with an answer. The most interesting part were his eyes--he had never considered what I said, and you could see the uncertainty there. He didn't have an answer for himself, much less me.

Just sayin', you never know what will reach someone. That's why I rarely argue with someone to belittle them--always to persuade them. Sometimes it works.
