An admission by ME of MY OWN blatant stupidity
I feel the need to publicly flog myself...

After the primaries ended I made an ass out of myself by being so pig headed that I vowed I would not vote for our Dem candidate.

Palin's appt by McSAME woke me out of my coma of idiocy and I still don't know what the hell was in my mind when I was thinking of doing a write in, or voting 3rd party.

Anger, bitterness and every other generally immature emotion that I can think of seemed to prevail for about a two week time period.

I guess that is what happens when you get so immersed in a primary election that you start treating it like a sporting match and forget what the whole point to the process is.

Flame away (I deserve it)but my brain has returned to my body, Obama has my full support and I guess I needed to assuage my conscience and say I WAS WRONG!

1. We get so emotional about our politics because we CARE.
Your initial reaction was understandable.

Welcome home! :pals:

4. Very big of you to say.
I felt the same way for a few weeks after Dean lost Iowa.

I hope you're just one of millions who come around before the election.

14. Just had a drag down blow out with 2 of them last night
I don't think we're on good speaking terms now, but they need to face the reality that they didn't get *their person* and do what's right for the country.

I guess a serving of their nastiness made me realize just how horrendous my own actions must have looked!

12. People need time to vent and mourn.
I never thought the panic and hostility from the winners was necessary.

You went thru a process that anyone of sense would have realized was just part of the journey. There's nothing to forgive.

13. Where's your local office?
How many people have you registered? Who is watching your election machines?

It's nice to "make nice", but seriously, as long as you're doing the work, temporary emotional lapses never mattered anyway. At least not to me.

24. I plan on stopping into the local office
To see if there is something that I can do other than phone calls, or canvassing in my state.

I am in a southern state (moved here fairly recently) and I have a northern accent/dialect or whatever you want to call it... which I don't think would behoove the campaign for local calls, visits etc. (the old leery of outsiders deal in a rural area)

I think one of the locals who sound local would garner more trust with some of the people, but I am sure they would have something that I could do!

16. That's all fine and good, BUT. . .
You're speaking to the choir here. Are you actively and with equal fervor admitting and discussing this with all those in your real life that you may have swayed the wrong way? or given support to their McC leanings? Fix those or your words are empty. Welcome back, but forgiveness is earned, imo.

Although you've obviously been here longer than me, LOL. I always thought most of the smart Hillary backers would see the light. Especially after this week, I think more and more of them will wake up and realize what's at stake. To paraphrase Obama, "this election is not about me, it's about you."

33. Don't be too hard on yourself. Obama wasn't my first choice
either, but I did vow that I would vote for the Dem candidate even if that candidate was a ground squirrel. I am now fully in Obama's camp and have donated 3 times so far. I love this country way too much to see ANY Republican voted in again, hopefully for the rest of my life. You had the good sense to change your mind so ya done good in my book.

39. I was the same way.
In fact I nearly got banned here. Oops.

But McPalin scares me so much that I would vote for anyone who was opposing them. I like Obama okay and I have some issues with the Democratic Party but I think there is time to fix those once he is elected.
As long as we make gains in Congress (especially be electing more progressives) we should be okay.

I didn't really care for any of the candidates in the primaries except for Edwards (what a colossal disappointment he turned out to be). Because if there is one thing I hate above all else, including Bush and McCain, it is corporate control of the political process. Sad to say, I don't think the Democrats are squeaky clean on this either. But I think with the financial problems of late, they are probably more amenable to re-regulating some of this. I hope so anyway and we need to hold their feet to the fire.
