is that he provided unlimited access and barbecue. One Huffington Post blogger even calls them the "barbecue media." But since McCain's nasty, surly interview with Time Magazine and the campaign's refusal to allow access to either McCain or Palin, except under the most controlled conditions (with "deference"), the reporters in the MSM have gotten a bit feisty.

I think the McCain campaign has to restrict access, not just to Palin because she is an idiot, but to McCain, because he cannot function in response to unscripted questions any more (and he barely functions even when scripted these days). His mental acuity seems to have declined fairly drastically. It could just be the result of his use of Ambien--or it could be for even more serious reasons, though Ambien use itself can be pretty debilitating, especially for older people. And of course there is also the possibility of early Alzheimer's.

I actually believe the Time Magazine interview might have turned out the way it did because he couldn't handle even softball questions designed to let him tout his "honor and integrity" persona. And then there is the way he keeps going off the reservation, so that his campaign has to essentially say that he doesn't speak for the McCain campaign.

Who knows--maybe even the millionaire MSM personalities (I can't call them reporters) are beginning to realize that if our country and its economy completely tank (and the world along with us), they won't be completely insulated from the nasty consequences.
