I Have Taken To Complaining To Corporations about BAD... |
|
....service.
Lately(last 2 months) when I get bad service I have been emailing the consumer affairs division at various corporate office to let them know what happened. I don't only complain I also offer solutions including paying better candidates better money....
Not to brag about what I have been sent by companies but it goes something like this...
3 nights lodging......2 nights at a Marriott property and 1 night at Motel 6
1 free oil and lube at a Jiffy Lube
A free order of flowers (up to $60.00) from Pro Flowers
2 Dinners at Olive Garden/Red Lobster
5 Ice Cream Sundays at Baskin Robbins
10 Meal Deal certs each from McDs and Buger King.
3 Drinks from Seattle's Best Coffee
Anyone else ever done this....The only reason I started this was to make light of the bad customer service and to let company's know they are getting what they are paying for.....mostly lack of concern.....

2. I was working in an office where someone managed to cut his tongue with a tootsie pop. |

No shit, he cut his tongue with a damn lollipop. So we all collaborated on a tear stained letter to the corporate headquarters(Charms, or something). It was a fucking doozy, full of "...the beloved lollipop of my childhood...", blah, blah, blah. Long story short, I probably still have 10-15 cases of fucking tootsie pops around here somewere...
Oh, yeah! The guy who cut his tongue? We wouldn't let him have any.

Haven't had time to do it lately, though there are a few I plan to take aim at in the near future.
The ultimate reward for complaining was when we bought a bad VCR, and fought the hell out of the manufacturer about it (when we discovered everyone we knew, who had this model, had the same problem). They shipped us a brand-new VCR, via UPS!
That's an unusual example, but yeah--it pays to complain. Not just for personal gain, but to help companies improve their service/products.
I've found that I've had zero success when e-mailing the company. I always send a snail mail letter, as it gets more attention and results.

5. I've only done this twice so far, but my internet service provider |
|
immediately lowered my monthly fee by $20; I called the L.A. Times to tell them I no longer want the Sunday paper (it's bigger than all the papers for the rest of the week put together) and they also lowered the price by $10.

6. I prefer asking to talk to a supervisor when someone goes out of their way to help |
|
Their reactions are priceless and makes their day.
I only complain in extreme circumstances - otherwise I take my business elsewhere.
