"Hang on to your yarbles, if you've got any yarbles." The pain of being right.
I was just checking out some of my old DU Journal entries. Now, I'm just a layman, I rely on my wife to balance the checkbook, but I still know shit when I step in it. This is a small excerpt from one of my entries from over a year ago...

--------

Hang on to your yarbles, that is if you've got any yarbles. Stuff your mattress with some fresh greenbacks and a maybe a brick or two of gold. Something you can trade for food or rent (no, that $120/mo iPhone won't be of much value in Bush's Armageddon Economy). Because if there is anything we should have learned from the Bush Administration since Usurption Day 2000, it's that when BushCo says things are great, that's when you should be most worried.

-------

This is from just ONE such entry warning of this impending financial collapse, for which I was roundly ridiculed by many (especially the Cons, of course), but turned out to be more right than I had hoped or wanted. Some links to a couple entries...

"How far are they willing to go?"

"Bush sweeps bad economy under the rug once again...August (2007) is just the beginning."
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Atman/59

And this one's from APRIL of 2006, warning my mom to buy gold...

"Are you honest with your family about all the badness that is coming down?"

Sometimes it sucks to be right.

2. I lived in CA in the bubble and was going on about this to friends in 2004-2005.
EVERYBODY thought I was nuts and had no idea what I was talking about.

"Real estate always goes up." :eyes:

Yes, it sucks being right, especially when nobody listens when it would actually make a difference.

3. Hartmann had this nailed!
Thom Hartmann was painting this dour picture at least a year ago, probably longer. Perhaps they'll listen next time?

"How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they're not listening still.
Perhaps they never will..."
