Can a federal bailout even work, given the TRILLIONS of dollars that are being discussed ? |
|
If my memory serves me correctly, the amount of "bad paper" in the financial markets is in the trillions of dollars. If that is correct, how can our government possibly bail out the market ?

1. Guarantee with a big IOU |

I think the government just creates more money to inject into the system and says it'll create even more to take care of any corporate bad debts that threaten financial stability. Letting the private sector off the hook creates euphoria as they've gotten away with financial murder and will live to do it again someday. There is still enough faith in our economy that this might work.

so anything I say is purely conjecture and the stuff of tinfoil hatness. The whole process is another ploy to kick the can down the road far enough until * is gone. Then the disaster won't be his fault. In the meantime, the ultra-rich will continue their pillaging of the of the country.
