Here's our chance to fix Social Security... |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 12:27 PM by johnlal
Let the Republicans have their way. Totally hand over Social Security to a privately owned corporation. Let the private sector administer it, as if it were a private pension. Pay incompetent cronies hundreds of millions of dollars in salaries to administer social security. Let our tax dollars be invested in the stock market. And wait for them to totally screw it up. The companies that were dependent on the Social Security infusion of cash will start to moan and cry. The incompetent cronies who were being paid for their incompetence will moan and cry. The lobbyists will be dispatched, campaign contributions will pour in, favors will be called in, and then... Congress comes in with a three trillion dollar check and sweeps the whole mess under the rug.
Problem solved!:sarcasm:

1. Somehow this kind of tough love isn't going to help the situation. |

Innocent people suffer when we let them steal and spend themselves silly just to make a point. Instead we need to clean all of these crooks out of our government and replace them with competent and experienced officials who recognize that they are servants of the people not the other way around. Social security isn't broken. It doesn't need to be fixed except in the eye of those who see that big pile of money out there just waiting to be stolen. I know you didn't put your sarcasm emoticon in your post, but I thought I would add this for those who might take you seriously.

2. Updated to add Sarcasm emoticon |

The proponents of the bailouts talk about all of the people in this country who would lose their life savings and their investments if these giant companies are allowed to go under. That would be a catastrophe. If only there were some sort of social "safety net" to protect us from the uncertainties of free market capitalism.
Another :sarcasm:
