Ahhhh! The smell of Ann Arbor at Election Time......
I stayed overnight with friends in Ann Arbor after attending the Michael Moore "Slacker Uprising" premiere yesterday.....

This morning, I pulled into the Whole Foods lot (to get an overpriced but delicious danish) behind a car with a "Grammas for Obama" bumper sticker.

In line, many people had their canvass shopping bags, a plurality of which had Obama '08 stickers or buttons affixed to them.

I then drove back down Washtenaw Ave. toward downtown Ann Arbor, past frat and sorority houses adorned with Obama posters and placards. (Yes, even the Omigod! crowd is in the right political frame of mind.)

I parked at a meter down Washington St., and walked past several restaurants and shops that unapologetically displayed Obama signs in the windows.

And then I walked over toward Borders, passing an Obama supporters rally in a park at Liberty and Division.

Nothing remotely resembling anything pro-Republican to be seen.

Gotta love the smell of a leftist burg at election time!

3. UM alumna here
this is the first year in a LONG time I will not return for a game in the Big House. Let's hope next year is a better one to attend.

Don't like the new AG and all the changes made there, but still love Ann Arbor.

I went WAY back in the Day when Kennedy made a train stop there and when I sallied through the Diag to class past demonstrators during the Cuban Missile Crisis and then spent mournful days during JFK's assassination.

So I take it you didn't go to Zingerman's after your trek to healthy Whole Foods. Or go to Blimpy Burgers for a year's supply of cholesterol.

4. Zingermann's was last week.....Had to get some fresh bread and cheeses.
And actually, I got an organic danish at Whole Foods that clearly was lathered in real butter and other sweet things, so I'm not so sure I did so well on the cholesterol front.
