1. That's only in The Blue States. In The Red States, there will be plenty of Republicans to eat first.

2. But there will be a news blackout on the horrors of this depression.
So we'll never know for sure what's happening.

Where ARE our great brave writers and reporters,
our John Steinbecks these days?

11. Boiling!?!
That means you have an actual pot, you elitist bastard!

The rest of us poor people will be grilling our pets over a fire made from our now worthless currency and DREAM about having pots.

17. Remember Second Harvest? DU's Charity of choice a couple of
Christmas seasons ago?.. I just got this from them:

Feeding America (formerly named America's Second Harvest

NEEDED: 500,000 pounds of food a day.

That’s what the Houston Food Bank needs to feed the people who were slammed by Hurricane Ike. And they need 500,000 lbs. of food a day for the next six weeks!

And that’s just one food bank! There are several others with similar needs! Frankly, we are overwhelmed. Our Disaster Relief Fund is totally spent. We need your help!

Every penny you give today to our Disaster Relief Fund will go directly to helping the men, women, and children left without food in the wake of disaster.

I hear stories every day from terrified families worried sick about their loved ones stranded without food and water. Like this one about a family from Galveston.

The mom and dad fled their Galveston home with their three kids and went to stay with family nearby. While they escaped the brunt of the storm, they didn’t escape Ike entirely. Now they have no power and no running water.

With no refrigeration, the perishable food went fast. They’ve been living on crackers, peanut butter, and whatever they can get their hands on.

They used what little gas was in the car trying fruitlessly to find an open store, a gas station, restaurant, anything at all. Now they’re truly stranded and food is running out.

It's like this for thousands upon thousands of families...

Please give whatever you can today to our Disaster Relief Fund to help the victims of this and other disasters get vital emergency food and supplies. Every dollar you give will provide urgently needed food and groceries for these people.

We can’t wait a moment longer. Please give now.

Sincerely,

Vicki Escarra
President and CEO

21. I guess all them economists warning this was coming, or telling is this is bad
some of them even Nobel prize winners, are clueless too

Or is the world and the ideology you believe in shattering round your feet really giving you a tummy ache?

By the way, broiling the conure sounds quite tempting right now... he's been rather noisy

27. Not MY dogs - no meat on those!
Sighthounds, don't you know. Despite the fact that they eat me out of house and home. All bone, sinew, and tough tough muscle!

On the other hand, I'm starting up a colony of apple snails with an eye toward a future protein supply.
